The Christian and Creativity

This is a word that I have been hearing for a long, long time. Lately the Lord has been putting it on my heart more strong than ever. I have to work hard to discern God’s voice from my own personal feelings because this is something I am passionate about. You see, I believe Christians should be the most creative people in the world. I passionately desire to see us take our rightful place as the world’s great artists, film makers, writers, actors, musicians, architects, etc. I observe us sitting around in a vacuum making little artsy crafty stuff without real purpose while the world heralds in its uproarious demonic influence in every arena of art and creativity. The Lord constantly speaks to me personally about my own mandate as an author, but that is not the word I wish to share with you. I want to share what I hear Him speaking to the Body of Christ.

In the midst of prophetic revelation and visitations regarding the nations, I am also hearing Him speak to his people regarding a personal calling in a global creative outreach. This is the Word I wish to share with you this month. I am sensing someone very much in need of encouragement.

I hear the Lord telling you to rise up and pay the price to achieve great things in His name. We must be schooled, trained; we must serve apprenticeships, labor, learn, work. We must bear beautiful fruit for Him. Too often we think God will just drop upon our heads a "spirit of painting" or something similar – say "the gift of writing" without training or without any effort on our part. The result is often mediocre, weak, lifeless fruit that can’t expand beyond our own limited borders.

The Lord is saying there is great integrity in the art of His heart and mind. He wants to speak through you. He wants to be a painter in the world today. He wants to be a writer in the world. Today. He wants to sing! Dance! Play the drums! Make films! Create new computer programs! Build cities and a Kingdom! He wants to sew beautiful banners! He wants to create magnificent sculptures to touch human hearts. He wants to express Himself through you.

There is a great outpouring of Jesus' creative energy being released in each area of life for those who will respond and receive. The area of music is especially anointed, and a powerful key to the Holy Spirit's move across the earth in the powerful worship which leads to deliverance, healing, renewal, restoration and salvation. The Lord is lifting up skilled, anointed musicians who are utterly consumed with passion for Him to show us more of His glory. The angelic throng joins in this magnificent outpouring of the Holy Spirit on us through music. We can expect great and mighty miracles through the ministry of music in the days to come.

Right now open yourself to more of the Lord's creative spirit in your life and work. He is encouraging you to expand your horizons. Take more of Him. See Him as the artist in you. This prophesy comes to you as encouragement to follow and build upon the dream that He birthed in you. He wants you to know this dream is from Him. He will bless you, go before you, and help you to prepare yourself for a high calling in His creative chambers. Be prepared. Don’t be afraid of studies, of learning, of teachers, of practice. Be a child of excellence. Just as you could not become a medical doctor by simply wishing it to be so, or a brain surgeon just because you feel the urge, you must give yourself to the task of Holy Spirit excellence. Be willing to pay the price, to go the extra mile, to sacrifice and to lay down your life in total surrender to the Lord. He wants to speak through you. Pray, work, serve, study, give yourself to Him and the task with all your heart, mind and soul.

Psalm 110:3 says, "Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power; in the beauties of holiness, from the womb of morning ..." In other words, we willingly serve the King of Kings, willingly working in beautiful holiness from early morning. We willingly bring Him our lives so His gifts, talents and creative power might pour into and through us. His word for you at this hour is GO FORTH. His word is YES. All of your efforts, your gifts, your very life are for the purpose of pleasing Him.

The Lord is saying, Come to Me with your work. Come and I will guide and lead you in the beauty of holiness. Do not be intimidated by the world. Do not be afraid for an instant. Fear and intimidation are never of Me. I am the Lord. I cannot fail, and I will not fail you. I will lift you up higher than you ask when you give yourself entirely to Me and the calling I call you with.
